Gem Cable complete Backbone Equipment upgrades

Over the course of 2012 / 2013, Gem Cable's software engineers have upgraded over 1100 of our customer's backbone network nodes. The customer (a global Telecoms Service Provider) tasked Gem Cable with carrying out these upgrades remotely, in dozens of countries spread across Europe, Middle East & Asia, plus the Asia Pacific Region.

All upgrades were completed within the requested timescales, with no unplanned outages. The equipment upgraded included Fujitsu Flashwave 9500s, Ciena OME5200 and OME6500. The network nodes are now all at a consistent - and supported - level of firmware, meaning our customer can be sure their network is as stable and supportable as possible, ensuring the highest level of service to their customers.
