Data Hall Fit-Outs

Gem Cable understand the driving forces behind the fit-out of a new data hall or room; speed is of the essence, but there can be no short-cuts on quality - or the future effectiveness of the room will be compromised. We have the experience to ensure that whether the room being fitted out is a new build, or if a room is being converted from a previous incarnation, all aspects of the data build are taken into consideration.

We know from experience what elements of the fit-out need to be complete in advance, and equally, which parts should be left until later in the process. Cutting a cable entry point under every planned cabinet location in advance, and fitting them with brush grommets to restrict the cold air flow may look impressive from day one; but when heavy equipment and racks are being installed, they only serve as booby traps for heavy duty casters, resulting in broken grommets, and in the worst case scenario, toppling racks.

Our engineers have worked closely with the customer project managers on several builds, both in the UK and Mainland Europe to ensure that all the necessary infrastructure is in place from day one, and that subsequent installations will not be hindered by the layout of the installed containment systems and racks.

Many Colocation facilities use their own in-house cabling contractors for all inter-suite cabling. However, it's often the case that any cabling within your own suite can be carried out by your own contractor. This can often lead to a significant cost saving.
